16 POINT VISUAL INSPECTION
1. Tongue:
Inspect coupler fuctionality and framework.
2. Safety Chain:
Visually inspect hooks/chains for functionality/wear.
3. Jack:
Visually inspect the jack foot, wheel, mounting plate, and bolts for wear/broken welds.
Check that the jack fuctions properly.
4. Frame:
Visually inspect for cracked or broken welds.
5. Floor:
Visually inspect condition of the lumber/screws or other flooring material.
6. Tires:
Check for proper air pressure in the tires. Visually inspect tires for uneven/ excessive wear, weathercracking, or other defects.
Check lug nuts for proper tightness and the wheel for any defects(rust holes, cracks, bends etc.)
7. Axles:
Visually inspect for signs of bent axles.
Inspect exterior of hubs for signs of wear, bad bearings, worn u-bolts or hangers.
8. Springs:
Visually inspect for cracks/brakes on springs.
Visually inspect all other harware related to springs on the axle and trailer.
9. Tailgate/Ramps:
Visually inspect condition and functionality of hinges, latches, pins and other tailgate hardware.
Visually inspect ramps/tailgate for broken or cracked welds, other defects.
10. Lights:
Inspect the condition and functionality of all lights and plug on the trailer.
11. Wiring:
Visually inspect all componets of the wiring system(broken, missing, frayed, loose wires etc.)
12. Fenders:
Visually inspect fenders and fender backs(dents, broken welds, missing etc.)
13. Spare Tire Mount:
Visually inspect spare tire mount and hardware(broken welds, missing bolts/ lug nuts, bad threads etc.)
14. Steps:
Visually inspect the condition of step plates or any additional features on the trailer.
Check for broken welds or other defects.
15. Paint:
Visually inspect the condition of the paint.
16. Reflectors:
Check for missing or damaged reflectors, DOT tape or other safety features.
